TROY HAYMAKERS

General Manager/Head Coach: Dave Bestle

Assistant Coaches:

2017 Finish: 12-12 league / 13-13 overall

Troy Haymakers enter their 37th season looking to build on the improvements made in 2017 and break back into the playoffs. After a 6-18 season in 2016, the Haymakers rebounded with a 12-12 record last season, narrowly missing a playoff spot. The Haymakers will be led by 2017 ATL All-Star Andrew Brochu (.291, UT) and a roster of maturing young veterans. The infield will be anchored by Mike Graves (Oneonta), Kyle Bestle, and James Hartunian (Plattsburgh). In the outfield, Connor McDonough, Frank Acker, and Luuk Visser (HVCC), will be joined by returning veteran Zod Visco. Nick DeVries (Maine), who led the ATL in innings pitched in 2017, will again anchor the pitching staff. He will be joined by returning veterans Dylan McNerney and Dillon Holland, and several newcomers (Greg Hotaling, Andrew McCullough) trying to make their mark. Antonio Archina (MCLA) will lead the catching corps. The team must deal with the losses of P Dylan Pollock (2.63 ERA), OF Ron Morello (.410), and IF Nick Jacques (.313). The team is built around an increasingly experienced core that provided a solid defense in 2017. The addition of highly touted newcomers is reason for the team to be optimistic. The key to success for the Haymakers in 2018 will be the development of a consistent pitching staff and the continued improvement of a young team. The Haymakers are managed by Dave “Mooney” Bestle, who founded the Haymakers in 1982.
