    ALBANY ATHLETICS GM/Head Coach: Joe Altieri (23rd season) Assistant Coaches: Eric Biehler, JJ Pearsall 2017 Finish: 19-4 league / 38-7 overall     The defending Twilight League Champion Albany Athletics will return 14 players from its 2017 roster. This year the Athletics will aim to win their 9th league championship and make it a 13th straight year of reaching the League Finals.   Nate Novak, 2015 and 2017 League MVP, and Dan Barbero, 2007 League MVP, will lead the list of returnees.  Cam Overbaugh, 2017 All-Star and 2014 league batting champion, in addition to 2017 All Stars Craig Mastroianni and Chris Salamida also return to lead the A’s offense. Salamida was the playoff MVP and will return as the team’s starting centerfielder and top pitcher.  RJ Pingitore, 2016 League Playoff MVP, outfielder/first basemen Greg Sulz and DH Pat Landers will also return as key members of the offense.   The pitching staff will lose 2017 League Pitcher of the Year Matt Snyder but will retain former Twilight All-Stars JJ Pearsall, Ryan Harper, and Salamida.  Mitch Forshey, Dylan Cummiskey , Zach Breen, Joe Pokrentowski and Mike Harrington also return to the staff expected to fill big innings.  Several rookie players are expected to also make an immediate impact.   Last year, the A’s captured their 8th Twilight League crown by sweeping through the League Semifinals and Finals for the second straight year.  They finished with 38 overall wins and 19 in the league also winning 21 straight games (ATL & non-league) to start the season. Manager Joe Altieri, the ATL’s all-time winningest manager with 352 league wins and 770 overall, enters his 23rd season in amateur baseball and 21st coaching in the Twilight League.
