| Nate Novak's three-run home run fueled a six-run third inning to lead the#1 seed Albany Athletics to an 11-4 victory over the #2 seed Waterford Nationals in game #1 of the Twilight League Championship Series. A's righthander Kyle Lambert entered the game in the top of the second inning and tossed 4.1 innings of relief allowing two earned runs, five hits and striking out 11 batters for the win. Marko Gibbons finished the game with 1.2 innings of scoreless relief. After Waterford's Ivan Plata hit a solo homerun in the first inning, Albany's Tim Carroll singled and scored on an error to tie the game at 1-1. Carroll doubled in a run in the second inning to break a 1-1 tie. Chris Salamida doubled twice which included a two-run double in a two-run fourth inning. Andrew Pedone hit a solo home run and singled while RJ Pingitore and Nick Hansen each singled twice for the Athletics as well. Nolan Duda doubled in a run and singled twice for Waterford while Plata added a single with his homer. |
