Novak finished with a single, double and 2 RBI, his second RBI coming in the third inning on a single to give the A's a 2-0 lead. The Athletics extended its lead to 6-0 in the fourth inning when they took advantage of four wild pitches to generate four runs. The scoring was capped off in the sixth when Craig Mastroianni doubled in a run and Greg Sulz singled in a run to spark a four-run rally. Steve DeLuca finished with two singles and an RBI. Capital City (0-1) broke up the A's (1-0) bid for a no-hitter when Bill Creighton laced a single to left field in the sixth inning with one out. In the same inning, the Kings got a sacrifice fly RBI from Kyle Ruth to push across their only run. |
