| A's Lefthander Matt Snyder threw a three hitter and struck out 14 batters to lead the Albany Athletics to a 4-1 win over the Waterford Nationals in game #1 of the Best of Five Championship Series at Bleecker Stadium. Dan Barbero singled home the A's first run to knot the score at 1-1 then Nate Novak smacked a two-run homerun in the 3rd inning to give the A's a 3-1 lead. Chris Salamida finished the scoring with a sacrifice fly in the 6th inning as the A's collected 10 hits. Cam Overbaugh singled three times to lead the offense. Snyder only allowed a first inning RBI single by Jim Gaudet. Ivan Plata was the only National to record a hit after that inning collecting a pair of singles. The Athletics improve to 36-7-1 while the Nationals fall to 19-11. |
